History of Green Wrap

  • Awareness & Mission

In 2015, Green Wrap founder Jessica Jia encountered a report on plastic pollution and the ocean crisis. The findings were deeply impactful:

Every year, over 8 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean—that’s 80% of all marine trash. It floats on the surface, sinks to the bottom, and wreaks long-term havoc on ocean life.

This revelation compelled Jessica to reflect on a possible solution:

She resolved to pursue a new path: to create a natural, biodegradable, reusable eco-packaging material.

  • Discovery of Beeswax Wraps

In 2016, Jessica discovered beeswax wraps by chance. Their natural, eco-friendly qualities—fully biodegradable and reusable—made a strong impression. She saw potential for these wraps to replace plastic packaging.

Motivated by her sustainable vision, Jessica began experimenting with various fabrics, beeswax, resins, and plant oils. After hundreds of adjustments, she developed a promising green formula.

After extensive trials, Jessica finalized and launched Green Wrap’s first functional recipe.

  • Sample Testing & Handmade Origins

In late 2017, Jessica shipped her handmade beeswax wraps to friends worldwide with diverse lifestyles to gather real-world insights and spot regional differences.

They were from cold spots, humid areas, dry climates, and places with totally different food habits.

The insights received motivated her to refine the formula further, aiming for:

    • Stronger stickiness
    • Better moisture lock-in
    • Rock-solid storage life

Once the base formula was perfected through testing, Green Wrap began accepting small handmade orders.

During this phase, Jessica personally crafted every wrap.

That’s how Green Wrap got its start.

  • Formula Optimization for Global Markets

As Green Wrap gained traction, customer feedback poured in.

Jessica and the team kept tweaking the formula for:

    • Stickiness variations (different temps and humidity levels by country)
    • Moisture hold (dry vs. humid zones)
    • Durability in storage (hot climates vs. cold ones)

To cover global needs, they ran tons of experiments and by late 2019 rolled out:

    • A universal global formula (boosted stability and longevity)
    • Region-specific versions for varying climates
    • Vegan options (using soy wax or candelilla wax) for plant-based folks

This puts Green Wrap among the rare suppliers offering multiple pro-level beeswax formulas worldwide.

  • Product Expansion & Custom Manufacturing

With stronger R&D and production capabilities, Green Wrap now offers a full range of eco-packaging:

    • Beeswax wraps (sheets)
    • Beeswax rolls
    • Beeswax bowl covers

    Everything’s customizable:

    • Patterns of your choice
    • Sizes to fit your needs
